Our Washes

Am I sacrificing good cleaning with being good to the environment?

Similar to other laundry detergents, Forever New breaks down and removes dirt, stains, and odours from fabrics. However, Forever New detergent is unique because it contains biodegradable surfactants and plant-based enzymes that help lift dirt and stains away from the fabric surface and break them down into smaller pieces, making them easier to rinse cleanly away. This process leaves no harmful residues behind.

How do I get my laundry feeling soft?

Forever New washes are formulated with fabric-conditioning agents to soften and protect fabrics.

Can I use your washes on silk or wool?

Most detergents contain protease, an enzyme that digests protein-based stains. Because natural fibres like silk and wool are protein-based, protease digests the fibres of these fabrics, too.

Our washes don't contain any protease or any other harmful enzymes. The formulations are designed to gently clean and care for delicate fabrics while pro

Are your washes strong enough to clean my everyday clothes and linens?

Absolutely! Forever New is a citric-based formulation. Citric acid removes hard water stains and mineral deposits from clothing and other fabrics. It also removes rust and other stains and is a natural fabric softener.

In addition to its highly effective cleaning properties, pure citric acid is also environmentally friendly and biodegradable, making it a good choice for those concerned about its cleaning products' environmental impact.

Are your laundry products safe for sensitive skin?

Our laundry products are formulated with natural ingredients, including plant-based enzymes, essential oils, and biodegradable surfactants, which are less likely to cause irritation or allergic reactions than some synthetic ingredients found in other detergents.

However, it’s important to note that everyone's skin is different. If you have very sensitive skin, it is always a good idea to patch-test a small skin area with a small amount of diluted product.

How does your Fresh® Activewear wash remove odours?

Odour-causing bacteria can become embedded in fitness and yoga gear and remain dormant for years. During physical activity, heat and sweat will reactivate these odours.

Our plant-based biodegradable ingredients neutralize these odours. Washing your gear with Fresh® soon after your workout prevents the odour build-up.

What’s in your soft scent?

Our soft scent has been carefully developed to leave your clothes smelling fresh, not fragranced. It also rinses clean so you don’t smell like your detergent.

Why plastic packaging?

Because our detergent formula is hygroscopic, it can take in moisture from the air. This means packaging our detergent in cardboard boxes is impossible because it would cake and clump.

Our packaging protects our detergents from degradation to preserve their quality and effectiveness. We encourage our customers to dispose of all plastic packaging responsibly by checking with your local government or waste management company to determine how to recycle plastic packaging in your area.

Should I store the powder detergent in a laundry tin?

It’s a good idea to store powder detergent in a container with a tight-fitting lid to help keep it fresh and to prevent spills or accidents.

Our Tea Chest laundry tin is made of metal and is designed to be durable and moisture-resistant, with a tight-fitting lid to help keep the detergent fresh and to prevent spills. Ensure your tin is clean and dry before adding the detergent, and close the lid securely after each use.

For best results, keep your tin in a dry, cool place to help extend the shelf life of your detergent.

Are your washes HE-friendly?

HE (high-efficiency) washing machines are designed to use less water and energy than traditional washing machines and require special HE-compatible laundry detergents. Forever New laundry products are designed to be fully compatible with HE washing machines, as they have been specifically formulated to work with low water levels and high-speed spinning. It is always a good idea to follow the manufacturer's instructions for your washing machine and to use the recommended type and amount of detergent to ensure optimal performance.

How much detergent should I use per load?

The detergent per load ratio depends on several factors, including the load size, the type of detergent you use, and the level of soiling or staining on the clothing.

As a rule of thumb, you should use about one tablespoon of liquid detergent or 1/2 cup of powder detergent for a small or medium-sized load of laundry. You may need more detergent for large loads or heavily soiled items.

It is also a good idea to adjust the amount of detergent you use based on the water hardness in your area and the type of washing machine you use. If you use an HE (high-efficiency) washing machine, you will need to use less detergent to prevent over-sudsing, as HE machines are designed to use less water and can be more sensitive to the amount of detergent used.

What's the difference between Powder and Liquid detergents?

In general, powders are more concentrated than liquids, which can contain up to 80% water. Powders are easier to use in a prewash cycle, as you can fill both compartments simultaneously without worrying about leakage.

Can I get refills?

Get eco-friendly refills of our detergent through the following:

· Online: Purchase refills of Forever New detergent from our website and other online retailers.

· Zero waste refilleries: More and more refilleries are stocking our products. Availability may vary depending on your location.

Wool Dryer Balls

How do dryer balls work?

As the dryer tumbles, wool dryer balls lift and separate the clothes, allowing hot air to circulate more effectively. This can help to reduce drying time and save energy.

Dryer balls made of wool also have a natural ability to absorb moisture, which can help to soften clothes and reduce static.

Can I add a scent to my dryer balls?

For sure! Before using, add a few drops of your favourite essential oils to the dryer balls to add a pleasant fragrance to your clothes. (Lavender is always a nice choice!)

How many dryer balls should I use per load?

The number of dryer balls you should use per load depends on the size of your dryer and your laundry load.

Generally, we recommend three dryer balls for a standard load. Use 5-6 for larger loads or dryers.

How long do wool dryer balls last?

Our dryer balls will last for 1000+ dryer loads. But in our experience, they will likely go missing long before they can wear out. (Usually, they are abducted by a pet or hidden inside a pant leg or shirt sleeve.)

How do wool dryer balls help reduce static cling?

By absorbing moisture from fabrics in the dryer, our dryer balls create a more humid environment that is less likely to allow static build-up. If you live in an arid climate, try dampening your wool dryer balls before adding them to your dryer.

Laundry Hacks

Are smaller laundry loads more efficient?

To maximize energy efficiency in your laundry routine, washing full loads of laundry whenever possible is generally a good idea.

If you need to wash smaller loads, consider using the appropriate water level setting on your washing machine to match the size of the load. Consider using cold water for smaller loads, as this can help to reduce energy consumption.

What is the best way to remove stubborn stains?

There are several steps you can take to remove stubborn stains from clothes:

  • Act quickly. The sooner you treat a stain, the easier it will be to remove.

  • Pre-treat the stain. Before washing, apply (what do you want me to put here?) to the stain. Be sure to follow the instructions on the product label. You can also try using a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar. Rub the mixture into the stain and let it sit for a few minutes before washing.

  • Wash the garment according to the care instructions on the label, using the hottest water safe for the fabric and (name your solution here) the detergent formulated for removing stains.

  • If the stain is still present after washing, repeat the pre-treatment and washing steps until the stain is completely gone.

  • Dry the garment according to the care instructions on the label. If the stain is still present after drying, it may be permanent and unable to be removed.

  • Keep in mind that some stains, such as dye stains or bleaching agents, may be permanent and may not be able to be removed.

How can I stop losing socks in the laundry?

Using a mesh bag to organize socks can be a convenient and effective way to keep socks together and prevent them from getting lost in the wash.

Mesh bags are made of a lightweight, breathable material that allows water and detergent to flow through while keeping socks contained.

After the wash, you can remove the socks from the bag and put them away. Mesh bags can also be a convenient way to keep socks organized when travelling, as the lightweight and compact design of the bag makes it easy to pack and transport.

What is a bra bather?

A bra bather is a small mesh bag designed to hold and protect bras while being washed with the rest of your laundry.

Bra bathers are particularly useful for washing underwired bras, as the wire can become bent or damaged during the wash if the bra is not protected. The mesh material of the bra bather allows water and detergent to flow through while also protecting the bras from getting caught on other clothes or the washing machine itself.

How can I prevent dark-coloured clothes from fading in the wash?

There are several things you can do to help prevent dark-coloured clothes from fading in the wash:

  • Wash your clothes in cold water. Hot water can cause colours to fade more quickly.

  • Use a gentle detergent. Avoid using detergents that are too harsh or have bleaching agents, as these can cause colours to fade.

  • Wash your clothes inside out. This will help protect the outside of the clothing from coming into contact with detergent and water, which can cause fading.

  • Avoid overloading your washing machine. When clothes are packed too tightly in the washer, they can rub against each other, causing fading.

  • Dry your clothes on low heat or hang them to dry. The high heat from the dryer can cause colours to fade.

  • Avoid drying your clothes in direct sunlight. The UV rays from the sun can cause colours to fade.
